The University of Oklahoma’s Trae Young and Five Other Freshmen Nominated for Wooden Award

Oklahoma sensational freshman guard Trae Young is the early leader for the Wooden Award, given to college basketball’s outstanding player. Young, who had 43 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in the Sooners’ 102-97 victory over TCU Saturday, leads the country in both scoring and assists. He is averaging 29.2 points and 10.1 assists per game through the Sooners’ first 15 games. Five other freshman, Arizona center DeAndre Ayton, Duke forward Marvin Bagley III, Texas center Mohamed Bamba, UNLV center Brandon McCoy and Alabama guard Collin Sexton, are also on the Top 25 mid-season list just released.
