Recruits Decommit from Pledge to Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech this Week

Sara D. Davis

This is interesting. Three high school juniors from North Carolina have de-committed from Virginia Tech, announcing their decisions on Twitter at the same time.

Center B.J. Mack and guards Kobe and Keyshaun Langley, twin brothers, broke the bad news to the Hokies’ coach Buzz Williams on social media this week. All used the exactly same formatting for their messages, thanking the coaching staff but saying they will be re-open their recruitment. Sounds like all three had a conversation about college decisions over Thanksgiving.

The Langley brothers play for Wesley Christian in High Point. Mack plays for Oak Hill Academy, having transferred from Charlotte Christian.

This is happening way too often and it may be time for the NCAA to restrict college coaches from accepting scholarship verbal commitments until the start of a player’s senior year in high school when both parties have had more time to make informed decisions.
