Donald Trump Asks China for Help with UCLA Players

Michael Vandon

President Donald Trump was personally involved in the case of the three UCLA basketball players, and personally asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to help resolve the case of the Bruin players who were arrested on shoplifting charges at a high end mall in Hangzhou.

Trump brought the issue up this past weekend on a stop on Asian tour in Beijing and was assured by Xi that the players would be treated fairly and expeditiously.

LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill have been released on bailed and are currently under house arrest at a lakeside hotel in that city. The Chinese police reportedly have surveillance footage of the players shoplifting from three stores at the mall. UCLA returned to the United States following a 63-60 victory over Georgia Tech in Shanghai Saturday. U.S. officials have reportedly said the charges against the three have been reduced and the case is headed toward resolution.
